Wash the beans and trim the ends.
Cut the beans into 1½-inch pieces.
Fry the bacon until crisp; drain
well and discard the drippings.
Saute the onion in the same pan until
tender.
Add water to the onion and bring to boil. Add the bacon, beans,
potatoes and pepper and return to boil. Cover and simmer for 15
minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
